More than 100 websites in Macedonia are pushing false pro-Donald Trump stories and making money off it. Prison guards reveal how bad the safety crisis in UK jails is right now. And the Hamilton mixtape has a release date and — omg — the tracklist is incredible.
HERE ARE THE TOP STORIES
The US election — almost there, guys. Almost there.
Hillary Clinton is turning to Jay Z in a final appeal to young black Americans. In several swing states, where early voting is already underway, turnout among black voters has fallen short of 2012 tallies, lending credence to fears that Clinton won’t reignite the cross-section of voters who twice elected President Obama. The Clinton campaign’s Love Trumps Hate concert series will culminate in a performance by Jay Z in Cleveland, Ohio, Friday night.
Meanwhile, Trump is mostly behaving in the last days of the election. Over several rallies on Tuesday and Wednesday, he refrained from tangents about the women who have accused him of sexual assault and focused on Hillary Clinton’s email scandal and his policy proposals. It remains to be seen whether Trump’s newfound discipline will make a difference.
Making money off Trump
The unofficial merchandise sellers of the Donald J. Trump campaign are a savvy band of roving capitalists. BuzzFeed News spoke with the vendors who’ve been on the road for months, following the campaign trail from rally to rally, selling knock-off hats, buttons, and flags to the Donald Trump faithful. Some of them are true believers. Others are professedly apolitical, treating the candidate as a brand, like they would a beer, a car, or a sports team. BuzzFeed News’ Cora Lewis has more.
Macedonia has become a global hub for false pro-Trump stories. Over the past year, the town of Veles has experienced a digital gold rush as locals launched at least 140 US politics websites — with names like WorldPoliticus.com, TrumpVision365.com, and USConservativeToday.com — that almost all publish aggressively pro-Trump content. The young Macedonians who run these sites don’t care about Trump, or the election. They do it to make money from ads (one makes about $5,000 a month).
And here’s a handy guide on how to vote in your state ~right now~.

Prison guards reveal how bad the safety crisis in UK jails is right now.
BuzzFeed News spoke to current and former prison staff who detailed in stark terms the worsening reality of life inside the prison system. All of them said the effects of staffing problems and budget cuts were being made worse by the rise in the use of synthetic drugs, which have been linked to higher levels of violence, organized crime, and behavior problems.
The problem of safety in prisons exploded into a national debate in the UK this week after the justice secretary, Liz Truss, unveiled new draft legislation to improve conditions and announced the creation of 2,500 new prison officer jobs. Officers have effectively threatened to walk out or even take over control of prisons if conditions don’t improve and safety measures are not introduced, BuzzFeed News’ Patrick Smith writes.
Entertainment: Kim Kardashian West’s social media silence is starting to affect her core business. And the Hamilton mixtape has a release date and — omg — the tracklist is incredible. So lucky to be alive right now.
