President-elect Donald Trump picked Republican National Committee chair Reince Priebus as his chief-of-staff and Steve Bannon as chief strategist. BuzzFeed News’ takes you inside the anti-Trump protest movement. And say hello to supermoon: it’s the biggest the moon has appeared in nearly 70 years.
HERE ARE THE TOP STORIES
Donald Trump has officially chosen his first two appointees to his administration.
RNC chairman Reince Priebus has been chosen to serve as Trump’s White House chief-of-staff while former campaign chairman and conservative media firebrand Steve Bannon has been appointed chief strategist and a senior counselor, the president-elect’s transition team announced. Priebus and Bannon are the first two people to officially join the Trump administration.
Meanwhile, in his first extensive interview since becoming president-elect, Trump told CBS’s 60 Minutes he plans to deport some 2-3 million undocumented immigrants, follow through with his promise to build a border wall with Mexico, and would consider appointing a special prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton.
Trump dismissed the fears that some Muslims, black people, and LGBT people have about his candidacy, based on his campaign rhetoric. He also said he’s “fine” with the Supreme Court’s marriage equality ruling. CBS
And a little extra
Federal officials have acknowledged for the first time a potential conflict of interest facing incoming president Donald Trump over his high-profile hotel deal with the United States government. And the federal agency that is involved wants to talk to Trump’s transition team about it before he takes the oath of office.
Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton reportedly placed some blame for her election loss on FBI Director James Comey during a conference call with top donors.
On the night of Nov. 10 in Portland, Oregon, protesters smashed store windows, car windows, and government building windows. Glass covered the streets of the city’s famous Pearl District. Police declared it a riot and the mayor called it “completely unacceptable.”
But Greg Clark, a protest organizer and member of the Portland Anarchist Black Cross (ABC), had a different take: “I saw people taking direct action against the tightening grip of fascism and global capitalism.”
Now the question is whether those protests will coalesce into a movement —whether the anti-Trump protests will flow into liberal and Democratic American politics, or whether their more radical early organizers will continue to play a major role. BuzzFeed News’ Blake Montgomery reports.

The election was the sexism turning point that wasn’t. 2016 was supposed to be the year of holding powerful men accountable for sexual misconduct. Then Donald Trump was elected. Where do young women go from here?
Here’s a running list of reported racist incidents since Trump’s victory.
American Muslims — some as young as 17 — describe the fear and anxiety that has followed Trump’s election.
DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS?
Say hello to Supermoon: the moon is the closest it has been to the earth since 1948.
The supermoon, which glowed in the night sky on Sunday evening, gets its name for its proximity to earth. “When a full moon makes its closest pass to Earth in its orbit it appears up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter, making it a supermoon,” NASA explains. Hope you caught a glimpse of it because the moon won’t look this big and bright again until 2034.
For most people in the US, the supermoon will peak early on Monday morning just before dawn. Glyn Kirk / AFP / Getty Images
