A man scaled Trump Tower in New York City before police snatched him. An Australian high schooler won a gold medal in the Rio Olympics. And Baltimore police have routinely violated civil rights and targeted black residents, a new report has found.

Day 5: Here’s the latest from the Rio Olympics.

Swimmer Katie Ledecky led Team USA to a gold medal in the women’s 4×200-meter freestyle relay, her third gold of the Rio Olympics. USA’s Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte qualified to compete in the 200-meter individual medley finals.

And 18-year-old high school student Kyle Chalmers won Australia’s fifth gold in Rio, taking out the 100-meter freestyle. It’s the first time an Aussie has won the event in 50 years.

The water in the Olympic swimming pool probably turned green because of algae. Don’t ~phuck~ with Phelps. And can you guess the country based on the Speedo?

Some more medals

US fencer Daryl Homer won a silver medal on Wednesday after losing his sabre bout against Hungary’s Áron Szilágyi. And Japan’s Kohei Uchimura nabbed the men’s gymnastics all-around title again, beating out Ukraine’s Oleg Verniaiev by a fraction of a point.

Travis Stevens took home a silver medal in the men’s 81 kg judo event — the first man to win a medal for Team USA in the sport since the 2004 games.

The Medal Count

US presidential elections: “Words matter,” Hillary Clinton said about Donald Trump’s Second Amendment comment.

The Secret Service interviewed the Trump campaign after the nominee said “Second Amendment people” may be able to stop Clinton from appointing US Supreme Court justices, CNN reported. Trump defended his comments, saying he was trying to unite gun owners’ votes and political power against Clinton. Clinton called the remark a “casual inciting of violence” and “the latest in a long line of casual comments from Donald Trump that cross the line.”

So, this happened

A 20-year-old man used suction cups to scale Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday, prompting a large police response. After several hours, the New York Police Department was able to snatch him through a broken window.

A day earlier, the climber posted a video titled “Message to Mr. Trump (why I climbed your tower).” The man described himself as an “independent researcher” and said that he was “seeking a private audience with [Trump] to discuss an important matter.” The video concludes with the man telling people “to get out and vote for Mr. Trump in the 2016 election.”

Baltimore police have routinely violated civil rights and targeted black residents, a US Justice Department report said.

Officers also illegally arrested residents and used excessive force, the investigation released on Wednesday concluded.

A little extra about the US Justice Department report

  • Food: Is “sustainable beef” really a thing? And BuzzFeed News went inside the race to become the Chipotle of pizza.

  • LGBT: Belize’s supreme court has struck down a law that made homosexuality illegal. The country is the first former British colony in the Caribbean to repeal its colonial-era sodomy law, and it could boost LGBT rights throughout the region.

  • Entertainment: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has sold more than 3 million copies. CBS knows its shows “need to do better” with diversity. And this is what happened when we asked the Suicide Squad cast to draw each other as superheroes.
